– All-American Girls Professional Baseball League set – 11 team set – $15 – This set contains the 1945 season with 6 teams plus you get 5 All-Time Great teams (1944 Milwaukee Chicks, 1946 Racine Belles, 1949 Rockford Peaches, 1951 South Bend Blue Sox and the 1953 Fort Wayne Daisies). The 1945 season contains some of the greats of the league like Dottie Kamenshek (Geena Davis’ character Dottie was based on), Helen Callaghan (Casey Candaele’s mom), Sophie Kurys (115 SBs), Dottie Collins (29-10, 0.83 ERA), Connie “Polish Rifle” Wisniewski (32-11, 0.81 ERA), Helen Fox (24-19, 1.34 ERA), Carolyn Morris (28-12, 1.08 ERA) and many more Hall-of Famers. Pitching rules the day in 1945 as the league ERA was around 2.00 and the league batting average was .199. The rules were still for underhand fast pitch but with some baseball rules. The All-Time great teams has some of the best players seasons ever. In 1944 manager Max Carey has the team stealing at every chance with Vickie Panos (.263, 141 SBs), Pat Keagle (.264, 122 SBs), Tiby Eisen (.204, 91 SBs), Doris Tetzlaff (.212, 101 SBs) and Alma Ziegler (.191, 77SBs) as Jo Kabick won 26 games and Connie Wisniewski won 23. 1946 Racine’s secondbasewoman Sophie Kurys hit .286 and stole 201 bases!, while teammate Jo Winter won 33 games and Anna Hutchison won 26. By 1951 pitching was overhand and the batting was catching up to pitching. South Bend featured “Shorty” Pryer (.312, 129 SBs), Betty Wagoner (.272, 50 SBs) and “Shoo-Shoo” Wirth (.274, 69 SBS) with pitcher-3B Jean Faut (15-7, 1.33 ERA) leading the staff. The 1953 Fort Wayne Daisies had the 3 Weaver sisters leading the way with Betty (Weaver) Foss (.312, 80 SBs), Jo Weaver (.346, 70 SBs, 76 RBI), Jean Weaver (7-1, 2.46 ERA) and three 16 game winners in Max Kline, Pat Scott and Jaynne Bittner.

  11. Really glad to find your website. Do you produce Triple A leagues. Would love to purchase 2013 and 2014 AAA leagues. Do you produce any Japanese league teams?

  13. Do you have (or have any place to produce) any sets from the old Negro Leagues? I would be most interested in some of those. Right now I am playing a season of the 1931 Homestead Grays, which I consider to be the greatest team of all time. Please let me know. Charlie

    • Charlie, I would love to make Negro League sets but APBA has made a set or two in the past and I don’t think that would fly. I can ask though. I also want to make Japanese League sets so we’ll see.
