NEW SET! – 2014 Carolina League

With a 5-1 win over Myrtle Beach, the Potomac Nationals won the Carolina League title, capping a banner year for the Nationals’ minor league affiliate. It is Potomac’s fifth title in team history, third in seven years, and first since 2010. Potomac was the Northern division first-half winner and overall division champion.

Powered by strong pitching and hitting, Potomac went 4-1 in the playoffs, and didn’t lose at home in Woodbridge. Potomac swept Lynchburg in the first round. They fell to Myrtle Beach, 2-0, in the opening game of the Mills Cup. Myrtle Beach finished the regular season with the best overall record and had home-field advantage for the championship series. But Potomac then won three straight, outscoring Myrtle Beach 20-8 in the final three games.
