NEW SET – 2014 California League

With all the pitching in the majors and minors I went looking for hitting and found it in the Cal League. With a League ERA of 5.22 and a League Batting Average of .270 there is plenty of hitting and some pitching (although it’s been adjusted to the stats). The best team in the league’s regular season was the Stockton Ports (85-55), the Oakland A’s affiliate, with SS Daniel Robertson, 2B Chad Pinder, 1B Matt Olson, 3B Renato Nunez, CF Billy McKinney their lineup was stacked. In the playoffs the Lancaster JetHawks, Houston Astros affiliate,  won their second California League championship in three years led by CF Brett Phillips who took over for Teoscar Hernandez after his promotion, 3B Rio Ruiz, SS Chan Moon who took over for Carlos Correa after his injury and 2B Tony Kemp.

The Cal League is loaded with top prospects like SS Carlos Correa, SS Addison Russell, League MVP SS Corey Seager, LHP Julio Urias, CF David Dahl, RHP Mark Appel, LF Jesse Winker, RF Hunter Renfroe, SS Daniel Robertson, CF Billy McKinney, 3B D.J. Peterson, 1B Matt Olson, RF Gabby Guerrero, RHP Ben Lively and many more.
